10 long days came to an end yesterday when I returned home from the Grand Designs Live show in London. The show went really well, meeting lots of lovely customers and fellow exhibitors along the way.

My new range of cushions, including the new ‘Friti’ print were a big hit, which I’m really pleased about. Lots of people were also asking when fabric will be available by the metre; I’m working hard to get this ready for you asap, I will notify all when the shop has been updated.

The 20% off I offered on all products seemed to go down really well, so I’ve decided to keep it going on my online shop for the next two weeks!

Last year I worked on a commission with Johnson & Johnson to illustrate their new range of Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturisers. Almost a year since completing the work the products are now on the shelves (US only).

After lots of requests about whether or not I do fabrics, I am now taking the plunge. My first venture will be a range of cushions, with a brand NEW design being added to the collection. I am currently sampling the fabrics to make sure all of the colours are up to scratch, with them being launched at Grand Designs Live in May.

I’m very excited to announce my first international stockist – Netti&Gee in Auckland, New Zealand. Owner Chris, saw my wallpaper during 100% Design back in September, and they’re now available via their website, or in-store where there is also a sample book to have a nosey through.

I had a very exciting and out of the blue phonecall the other day for the guys at Elle Decoration magazine. After sending a collection of my wallpapers in for them to see, they told me they had chosen my Polka Polka wallpaper to be shortlisted for the British Surface Design of the Year 2009 award.

 A quick mention about a forthcoming book that will be a must-have for all wallpaper lovers. Fashion and design journalist Charlotte Abrahams has put together ‘Wallpaper: The Ultimate Guide’, where she will give her expert advice on the three main styles and areas of design – pasted pictures, fabulous florals and architectural illusions. My ‘Polka Polka’ design is to be featured in the book, so keep your peepers peeled.
You will be able to get your hands on the book in October from Quadrille Publishing.

After what feels like months and months of sorting all things wallpaper related out, there now seems to be some light on the horizon. Last week I took the train up to my supplier where all things colour matching, cellophaning, labelling, and delivery-ing were discussed. It was great to meet the team, and discuss the wallpapers face-to-face. I also had a nose around the factory and saw what had to be the biggest digital printers in the whole world - printing 70+ metres an hour is a walk in the park for these beasts.

I received both wallpaper and fabric samples where most of the colours were perfect, just a few need fine tuning which was sorted out last week with the help of pages of colour atlases. I’m awaiting the second batch of samples now, so hopefully it shouldn’t be too long before your rooms can be patterned filled wonderlands…

Apologies all some seriously slacking on the blogging front has been going on. To make up for it I will be updating over the next week with what I have been up to.
As mentioned in a previous post, being selected to exhibit at New Designers: One Year On has given me lots and lots of prep work to be getting done. I have also been working on a variety of exciting commissions, details of which will follow when they are all signed off…

My own work is also going really well, with lots and lots of drawing being done, ready to turn into a new collection or two, to be launched at One Year On in July. After much discussion I have decided to exhibit during Week 2, alongside all the Product/Furniture/Graphic Design guys. Hopefully having my wallpapers displayed alongside some lovely furniture will really compliment both products.

I’ve been quite busy recently sorting wallpaper orders/samples etc out and seemed to have reglected the blog a little. Sorry about that.
New news includes: My ‘Polka Polka’ wallpaper will be featured in a forthcoming publication focussing on wallpaper trends, due for release in October 09 from Quadrille Publishing. More details to follow… 

My application for New Designers: One Year On has been accepted! This is great news and has given me something to work towards now, as I plan on having my new collections ready and in production in time for the exhibition.
New Designers will be running from 9th-12th July at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

A quick update from me.

Since the launch of my new website, things have been getting very exciting… Interest has been flowing my way from people asking if my designs are available to buy as wallpapers, furnishing fabrics or books. At this moment in time, they are not…
However. I am now in the early stages of setting up an online shop where lots of lovely pattern filled products will be available to order. I’m currently visiting suppliers and sorting out all the not so pretty businessy bits, so that lots of designs will be available for you all to order in the not so distant future.

I’m back home after spending the past 2 months down in London working at Cath Kidston. I thoroughly enjoyed my time down there, learning a lot of things and meeting lots of wonderful and like minded people.

After meeting Cath at New Designers, I saw her in London not so long ago, where she said she would love for me to come and work in their new studio for a couple of weeks. I start mid November – I’m so excited!
